The Year of Discipleship

Your twelfth year of age
Is not filled with a wealth of fear and rage.
Your build is healthy – your ear is aimed towards the lips of your Father.
Your mind and mouth are so packed up with wisdom,
The things you find out will backup systems…
These are facts, bruh – your cistern overflows with gifts from your Author.

With God as the Starter and Finisher of your faith,
You will endure to finish the race.
Long gone are spirits that were timid with angst – His grace is sufficient for you!
This is your year of discipleship!
This is the year where idle quips
Get switched with decisiveness to do what fishermen do!

Like treasure chests in Fortnite filled with rifle grips,
This year, your heart’s treasured express will be forthright as the Bible equips.
His praise won’t stifle your lips – like a sniper hit,
we’ll feel the impact from long range sites!
This is the year you drum up the lessons
Summed up from the stuff of Legend
Stuffed from eleven consecutive years of your dad and mom’s sage advice.

Speaking of mom,
let no man roast the worthy oven from whence you came
By playing the dirty dozens game!
Don’t throw hands, that’s for thuggish lames – speak life right from your heart!
Speaking of heart,
if this is the year of girlfriends, may each one be a dime a dozen:
Uncommonly Kingdom like my wife and your mother…
May you find her substance hidden in plain sight of the Lord God!

This is the year you leave behind pedestals of rigidity
In favor of being seated as a reed with flexible tendencies.
This is the year you test your limits extensively – with your comfort zone
blown all the way upstaged!
This is the year you write verses as a rites of passage
This is the year you discern what’s right versus the right time impassioned…
This is your right – fight or flight isn’t passive when your take off from the runway!
