He Who is Prodigy
…Prodigal son and brother to The Only One, in time he brought it all together,
His dues came true despite Friction infused in a process as tough as leather…
Though the night is dark’s realm, Ice Cold as can be
We march on with confidence, blind yet able to see.
Our path may be long and our goal out of sight,
Yet we persevere on, guided by a most powerful light.
This nocturnal star is not far from its own creation
Its immense energy yields our base and future liberation.
Wrathful and limitless of intensity, its prodigious power demands our respect,
Watchful and cautious, mutual trust ensures our thorough process.
Arrival from the East, departure in the West,
it has overshadowed and strengthened our souls.
This fiery field of origin and turmoil
has become part of our light at the end of the road.
So dominant is the intensity of our bright and shining star,
That beneath its power, the sun casts a shadow as the earth drifts afar.
The rays of this source beat down with pure force
Always pushing us on, correcting our most courageous course.
We possess an inner light as well, but in comparison, it is a weak flame.
The knowledge that escapes us you have captured and tamed.
The lingering light that leads us is neither solar nor distant
It is our Dean Al-Tariq the most noble instructor in existence.
He has taught us that Fear leads to Excuses…
A lack of confidence will ultimately destroy us
and that men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
represent precedent excellence based on a legacy of trust.
So deserving is our dean that twice he had to be named –
Al-Tariq reigns from the heavens as Prodigy arises, a warrior of well-renowned fame.
A perfect change has been attained amidst his struggles and desires.
What remains is an ICE COLD figure surrounded by an unquenchable fire.
2/27/98 marks the return of an era long overdue.
The first step has been made, it’s time to reclaim:
