Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Proctored a spark in the future esteem of freedom pursuers.
Freed from subduers, the dream seems cruder
through looser interpretations.
With this country’s pivotal hatred peering
Through one-sixth ‘patriots’ and pages of critical race theory…
Some seek to literally erase his memory –
poised as intruders and looters bent on inverting the nation.
All to preserve a pitiful rank that’s nearly budged,
Fudged by empirical data that’s clearly corrupt.
Dearly beloved – that’s not what
the good doctor gave his life for!
He strived for peace in our time of need.
His drive was released to ignite a creed
That could ultimately unite a theme
common to every life form!
Though he galvanized clubs that were ready to fight for him,
His ego never clouded his eyes or trumped misguided forces
Though derided, he cited the right forum of Mahatma Gandhi.
Nonviolence was the strategy he radically beseeched
Along with a tactical tapestry that captured the police…
Savagely beaten as the whole nation
watched with shock and awing.
Yet, there was no coup or attempt to overturn an election.
There was no movement to overtly spur an insurrection.
There was only a wake-up call to purge an infection
from the Constitution’s execution.
This wasn’t civil war,
this was civil disobedience at its best!
Was it worth King getting killed for? –
YES… until the lessons get lessened
to provoke media craftiness…
Who drafted this mess? – who’d dare reduce King’s life
to a forgotten nuisance like a vet who’s roofless?
This man is the King of the Ring!
The one who wrestled giants to let freedom sing!
The one who redeemed the seat of inalienable rights!
I’m just talkin’ about Martin Luther the Kang!
Only he was no conqueror or ruler estranged!…
He was an infuser of change who spoke
truth with unassailable gripes!
He was no conjuror of false anomalies,
Nor did he have to con jurors to find fault in inequality.
By default, his policies stimulated rational thought and justice.
King’s majestic endeavors
Ring intrepid forever and ever…
He’s a blessed treasure – a vault we’re honoring
for the time he bought while he walked amongst us.
You see, Dr. King
Had a monstrous dream!
He accomplished things at the cost of his family.
He wore freedom’s gauntlet ring
To consciously spark and launch what he’d seen…
Set apart by a feat which accosted his family.
The part where his feet hit the streets
made some in Selma so livid
That they plotted to remove him from the realm of the living.
For what – for daring to delve beyond
city limits of segregation?
Beyond being a leader, brother, father, and husband,
he was American, y’all!
Martyred before his time for making a clarion call…
He wasn’t arrogant at all – despite inherent flaws,
he fulfilled his purpose with intimate trepidation.
What does that teach us about our
own massively passive genius?
Do it scared until you passionately mean it at its zenith!
He’s given each of us a pass and a path to lean in
– it’s time to tackle YOUR Goliath!
That’s why I give thanks to King –
This man of God enabled me
To separate fables from dreams to take
my battle course to its highest!
Beyond monopolies that made it unfavorable,
He helped us see equality as attainable.
With no apologies, Dr. King made himself available to topple tabled topics.
Despite the unpopular vote of a few,
We now hold his phenomenal quotes to be true…
He spoke the most with his tool as
a colossally faithful prophet.
He only cared about the labels and optics
That helped disable the logic
Of racism’s mangled subconscious
– alive and well in the laws of the land.
To impeach a system so intrinsic
Made this preacher a menace with intention…
Yet and still, he did it with conviction in his heart
and a word in the palm of his hand.
The gall of this man to report such injustice!
Resolve and stance of this sort is just disruptive!
He judged and budged what was repugnant
in the eyes of the Lord!
That’s what every Christian’s designed to do.
Speak to mountains until they’re inclined to move…
Removed from Divine view and cast into seas
beneath and behind the storm!
This is how King defined reform!
This is how kings decree, defy, and decry what’s deformed:
Dare to dream against regimes that dine
on disorder and disregard!
Fall in rank, be counted amongst the
King of kings and Lord of lords!
That’s how we all give thanks:
Dream a dream then form its forge…
Lest we all sleep in ‘piece’ as we ignore the torture
that’s meant to convict OUR hearts.
HAIKU
Free to Dream, Free to Speak
Freedom of speech has
Set up freedom to ring for
A dreamer of dreams.
