A Two-Faced Watch

“Even a broken clock is right at least two times a day… That’s something you don’t gotta say two times to Jay…”
These #JayZ lyrics have been resonating with me lately. The Lord has been working on me about what truth I choose not to take simply because of the vessel it is coming out of. There are celebrities who have platforms that aren’t reflecting Kingdom discipleship and speak truths that I don’t want to hear because of their platform and their stances. God reminded me that He delivers truths through whomever He desires. Even a donkey spoke to the false prophet Balaam to save his life: the same false prophet who later accurately prophesied about the coming Messiah.
The watches that I wear are largely costume jewelry because I don’t replace the batteries anymore since I have a watch on my phone. If the watch isn’t kinesthetic, I don’t bother to waste money replacing batteries. However, if someone were to ask me what time it was when the dial happens to be correct, should I not give them the time just because the watch hands no longer move?
That’s what God spoke to me. “Ignore the faces of the people when you hear My truths come out.” #TruthIsTruth no matter who speaks it or how much you agree with the rest of how they live their lives or use their platforms. That hit me square in the chest because these celebrities are out here occasionally dropping gems while wilding out.
I should be happy when I hear #truth being spoken. It just holds audiences over until a better vessel can release truth with a lifestyle that lines up more with Kingdom values.
Who are you ignoring because though what they’re saying is true and useful, you don’t want to agree with them for whatever biases YOU have against them? #GodStillSpeaks
