Things that Make You Go… HMMM…

Things that make you go…hmmm:

If God never gives us more than we can handle, then…

– Why was #David anointed to slay #giants? #DavidAndGoliath #ThereWereOthers

– Why was #Gideon told to reduce his soldiers down to 300 going into battle against a much largerand more formidable Midianite army? #TheOriginal300

– Have you ever looked at a map? #Israel is one of the smallest regions in the world, yet they became God’s #ChosenPeople to topple other superpowers (when they weren’t being rebellious) and have influence the politics of the world for generations for this very reason. Don’t take my word for it, though:

“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people… If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them? Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;” – Deuteronomy 7:6-7, 17-18

Even when they did rebel and were conquered, once they repented, God was more than happy and capable to restore the #remnant!

“And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.  For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.”
– 2 Kings 19:30-31

Perhaps we’ve been saying something religiously that is actually contrary to the #TruthOfTheMatter. Truth is, He puts us against opposition greater than ourselves for two reasons:

1) To ensure that we depend on Him for words of knowledge and wisdom and His power in our moment of weakness instead of relying on our own strength.

2) To ensure that as we let our light so shine among men, they see the insurmountable odds we triumphed over and know that it was beyond our means; so that God gets the glory that is due to HIM and not ourselves (Matthew 5:16). #LongPost #DangIt! #ItHappenedAgain #ItStartedOffShort
