Taking the Lord’s Name in Vain

By February 10, 2021Faith-Based Blog
Thanks to Jay Payleitner‘s latest book, #ThePrayerOfAgur, I’m taking a deeper look at Proverbs 30. Check out verses 8-9:
“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.”
For years, I had been taught that taking the Lord’s name in vain is to either use it as a swear word or say something like “Oh my God.” But it’s not that simple. Using the principles I’ve learned at The Kingdom Advancement Center, I took a deeper dive by asking God for wisdom and revelation BEFORE I started reading this scripture. This is what He dropped on me:
What would it mean if a wife took the name of her husband but didn’t act like she was his wife? 😳🧐🤔🤯
Those who call themselves “Christians” are literally named after the Christ or Messiah Himself. When we “take His name” but don’t act like Him or speak like Him or represent Him in the world, we are “taking His name in vain.” #TakingHisName #TakingHisNameInVain #PrayerOfAgur
