Now that I have a teenager, I realize I have to do things a little different. By nature, my eye fixates on what is wrong in any environment I’m in. Disorder can’t hide from me!
When he was younger, I would make sure my son was in order by his clothes, cleanliness, demeanor, etc. – you know… All the things that ultimately reflect on me.
Now that he’s older, though he still reflects our family, I have had to show some restraint because I know that if I point out what needs to be brought in order to him ALL THE TIME, he won’t want to interact with me. I am more prone these days to edify and encourage him with my words so that our relationship does not suffer during his teenage years.
I don’t let him get away with stuff but I let a lot more of the smaller details slide so that he can figure it out on his own and come to me when he is ready. He won’t come to me when he’s ready if I’m always harping on him, though. That’s the sign of a good dad trying to be a better dad.
Likewise, despite what we often think, #GodTheFather is not looking to #PunchDown on us from above for every little detail of sin we harbor in our lives. #Jesus endured that scrutiny on the Cross for us already; so that our #HeavenlyFather can spend more time edifying and encouraging those of us who are His children (#BornAgainBelievers).
That’s the sign of a #GoodFather. He still means to correct what we detest about ourselves but He’s just going about it different than we think (look back to what I’m trying emulate with my son as I try to do what I see my Father doing a la John 5:19). He is thee best!!! #HesAGoodGoodFather #Prophecy = #edification, #exhortation and #comfort… #PropheticEncouragement #fatherhood #KACNation
“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” – Psalm 40:5
