Man meets woman. Man marries woman. Man and wife move in. Man seeks to establish #ManCave.
Why is that? That happens because while a marriage is meant for one person to invite the other into themselves so that everything is shared (good and bad), men typically feel as though some part of them will suffer if they give EVERY area of their being to their wives.
SO… to compensate, every man (stereo)typically tends to create a place of solace and refuge… a sanctuary if you will, where they can be themselves without interference or compromise. In reality the interference is that we have really entered fear when we do that. We don’t want to give up ALL of who we are to someone else because we want to retain a small piece of how we were before we got married.
Now… Christ meets mankind (US). Christ gives life (His ALL) for the mankind. Christ saves mankind. Christ attempts to abide in mankind as mankind abides in Him…. Mankind seeks to establish a man cave.
Mankind fears giving ALL to Christ because of what we may have to lose/give up even though what we have to gain is far superior to and overcompensates for the loss. What do our man caves look like?:
We tell Jesus to stay in church (not wanting to realize that WE… ARE… THE… CHURCH) while we tell Him:
I don’t want You in my #finances (stop talking to me about the #tithe) or my #business though corporations are modeled after the growth of the early #Church (see the entire chapter of Acts).
I don’t want You in the #music I produce/listen to/create (though when He inhabits the praise of His people, our enemies are defeated (see Psalm 22:3, 2 Chronicles 20:2-24).
I don’t want You in my government (we want #SeparationOfChurchAndState though the government that’s on HIS shoulders will increase without end (see Isaiah 9:6-7).
I don’t You in my #education (though wisdom is the principal (see Proverbs 4:7) thing which is an extension of the very mind of Christ (see 1 Corinthians 2:16).
I don’t want You promoted on my #SocialMedia platforms (though His desire is to promote us on HIS platform (see Psalm 75:6-7).
I don’t want You in my #family, though YOU ARE ULTIMATELY MY #FATHER WHO ART IN #HEAVEN (see Matthew 6:9).
Where is your man cave? What have you withheld from God in a futile attempt to keep your old self? You know what happens when we keep things from God like that? The longer you hold out more “hallowed” (hollowed) places to make a #sanctuary without God, the more your house is revealed to be built on sand which inevitably leads to a #CaveIn. #Selah
