I experienced the most profound and peculiar thing today doing some much needed #YardWork.
I actually messed up my backyard pretty bad this year. I fired the company who was treating it after they did nothing to fix an infestation of clovers that got into my grass.
Those same clovers returned this year so I decided to use Roundup to treat the weeded areas myself… only I used the type of Roundup that kills the weeds AND grass! You can imagine how blotched and botched my yard looks right now with dead patches of grass everywhere.
I began raking these dead patch areas today to break up the thatch so I could put down this fertilizer/mulch/grass seed combo when I noticed something strange. Last year, I kind of marveled at how smart these clovers seemed to be. They tended to lay lower than the grass so that when I mowed the lawn, it almost seemed as if they were intentionally ducking the blades as I cut.
As I was raking the grass, there were still some clovers that had managed to stay alive; yet as I raked the dead areas, they stood straight up – revealing just how long they were and making them easier to pull up by hand! The first few times it happened, I thought it was a fluke but after about four or five times, it was consistent. The tendrils that had been growing along the ground were being exposed and isolated so that they could be pulled out.
When we deal with unclean spirits, they tend to lay low, too. They masquerade as a part of our character traits (clovers amongst the grass) which we tend to overlook so that even when we have times of refreshing to sweep and garnish the house we call our bodies (see Luke 11:24-26), we don’t expel everything the first few times. But when we consistently tend to our spiritual health, we will have opportunities to call/cast (root out, tear down, pull up) these things out. And trust – when we do it in Jesus’ name, they cannot resist being exposed by His Light and MUST respond to being cast out!
