If you want your children’s behavior to change, first change your behavior.
This is something God has been working on in me in the very place it counts:#MyHeart.
He’s been showing me that if there’s a heart condition (spiritual matter) that concerns me about my children, I must first look internally to deal with my own heart conditions first.
The greatest part about this is that they don’t have to be the same condition. It’s not the principle of “if your child is rebellious, then work on the rebellion in your heart” – though that is a work of truth, as well.
He’s shown me that if I work on an issue in my heart that is SEPARATE from an issue in my child’s heart, it will cause the heart of said child to turn (repent/change) in an entirely different area. #CreateInMeANewHeart…
Actually, no – God merely prompts a #ChangeOfHeart… the work required to get it done is in our hands. #Scalpel
So instead of Psalm 51:10, perhaps it should actually be Ezekiel 18:31:
“Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”
