My children have typically responded better with our daily routine of memorizing scriptures. They get them committed to memory quicker than their parents! But I could tell they were missing the point of it when one of them faced a problem early this morning; so I had to break down WHY memorizing scriptures is so important for them today.
I asked them to gather up every sword/wand they had. After doing so, I told them that their arsenal gives them a choice of what to pick up depending on what they’re facing during the day. It should be diverse. It should be SHARP and #AtTheReady when the enemies of God come at them. It should be in their mouths to be released #AtTheDropOfADime.
No sooner did I say tell them that – mentioning but not knowing where it says in the Bible that the word of God is depicted as a sharp sword coming out of Jesus’ mouth, I came across the source of that imagery!:
‘And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations…’ – Revelation 19:15a
What’s your weaponry look like?
‘And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:’ – Ephesians 6:17
