Common Genius,

Uncommon Destiny

Common Genius, Uncommon Destiny empowers students with an opportunity to self-affirm the non-academic genius potential that each of them possesses by first recognizing the unseen innovators and pioneers of African-American and LatinX cultures who, though their contributions have revolutionized our lives, have remained largely anonymous.  Once this unseen genius has been demonstrated, it will allow them to begin to associate the potential of genius to and for themselves. This latent potential often goes by unchecked and underdeveloped due to how genius potential is often only accredited to academic prowess or individuals who perform well on standardized testing (relative to only one or two of the eight learning styles).  As such, this workshop deconstructs the term GENIUS into something more accessible and relatable to students revolving around a simple equation:

GENIUS = PASSION + TALENT + PURPOSE

Each component of this equation receives a similar deconstruction and reconstruction which shifts paradigms; thus, positioning them to unlock their genius.  This is done via personal testimonies of the speaker regarding the need to go through trial, error and failure to access what true PASSION, TALENT and PURPOSE are for any individual’s growth mindset.  These three components are defined as follows:

  • PASSION: an internal drive motivated by something that’s broken in the world which impacts you in a negative way; ergo, it becomes something (not someone!) you actually hate… with a passion
    • ex. a child who hates school because it marginalizes them when a given subject is not taught in their learning style but is DRIVEN to fix the school system as an educator who presents his/her learning style as a teaching style to reach other students marginalized for the same reason; thus, complementing (fixing) the school system’s lack of representation in all eight learning styles
  • TALENT: a gift that is generationally passed down within families which should be tapped into as a “tool” to fix what we hate ie. the thing that’s broken in the world which negatively impacts us
    • ex. Lebron James used his basketball talent to fix the impoverished school system in his hometown by building a world-class public school with modern resources and access
  • PURPOSE: one’s purpose in life is to discover their generational TALENT and PASSION; applying the TALENT as a tool to fix what’s broken with PASSION

I met Reggie a few summers ago when he spoke to teachers at ECC. I have taught at Elgin High School for 30 years and his presentation was the best school year starter yet.

Reggie did a great job at presenting his material with great clarity and understanding.
He was very informed about his topic and included his own life experiences that helped the teens relate better to what he was presenting.
He showed great energy as he engaged the teens and maintained good eye contact with his audience.

Roger Simmons, St. Charles, ILCommunity Coordinator

I thought the presentation was great! Although the students weren’t very talkative, they were very engaged.
Reggie was fun and engaged the cadets in issues that were important to them and that they cared about.
He was able to adjust his presentation with shortened time without feeling or coming off rushed.

The 7th and 8th graders at the Youth Leadership Academy thoroughly enjoyed Reggie’s talk about college preparation.
Between his personal stories and enthusiastic delivery, Reggie kept the kids engaged and curious throughout.
While the kids are years away from college, he made it seem like going to college was an enticing surety rather than an abstract and unreasonable dream.
We hope to work with him going forward in the students’ academic and personal growth.

With 30 years of recorded information from my assignment to minister to women of all ages, many of my associates told me that I should write a book. After one of his clients referred me to Reggie, I met him and I felt very comfortable handing over my notes to Reggie. He used what I gave him and helped me publish an awesome book. Thank you, Reggie!

I had the opportunity to work with Reggie Kee and Water2WinePress Publishing House near the end of the summer of 2019. I knew Reggie many years prior to my experience of working with him to publish my book. I also knew that he had written and published books of his own and I needed help to get my project published. I reached out to him and he was more than helpful. I was a little nervous because this was my first book, and I did not know what to expect. Reggie quickly put me at ease. He assured me that he would be with me every step of the way and whatever I did not like we would change and make it flow in the direction of the project. He edited and formatted my manuscript for publishing. Although I did not have a graphic designer, he guided me through the self-designing process of the cover of my book. From start to finish, Reggie made this effortless. My first book was published September 2019. Because the first project went so well, I employed him again to assist me with the second book which was published in March 2020. The best compliment you can pay a person is to refer. I would without hesitation refer Reggie Kee and Water2WinePress Publishing House to others who look to publish their material.

Being a published Author was always something I wanted, but it was a goal I thought was beyond my reach. Though it was prophesied that I would write many books, It was like looking up at the clouds with wishful thinking, dreaming, imagining, knowing your dream was too far to grasp. When Reggie begin to remind me and press me (gently) about my own dreams it brought the clouds down to where I could see a lining. I remember thinking If Reggie can see my dream come true then I should at least give him something to work with. As my editor, he was more dedicated than I was. After a while I begin to get excited about the thought of becoming an Author. The more I worked on the book the more real it became. It was almost unbelievable. Doubt was fading. True was becoming Truth. Believing was more than seeing it was knowing and walking in the joy of knowing. I always envisioned my books on shelves in the supermarket ..Now I have what has always been in my hands. The gift that God has given me. Reggie did an excellent job of keeping me on track, keeping me focus, making me accountable and more importantly, believing in me. I could not have done it without him. He's very strict, but allows you to be you and pushes for excellence as if it was his very own. Thank you Reggie. The experience of traveling down the road to authorship was mind tingling. It was a lot of work, but it produced fruit: patience, self control, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, kindness , love, joy and peace. All manifested in the process. I lived to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. I am still in awe of God. I am a believer now that one prophetic Word can change your life

Through his company, Water2Wine Press Publishing House, Reggie has helped me get my book, Prayers of a Broken Daughter published. I love his connection with Jesus! Whether you are a seasoned author or a ‘newbee,’ Water2WinePress Publishing House is professional and friendly. I was a ‘newbee’ in unexplored territory. Water2WinePress Publishing House formatted what services it had to offer and patiently guided me through, enabling my jumbled words to make sense to others.
With step by step precision, I learned how to choose a cover, determine book size, order ‘proof copies’ and even order author copies on my own. In short, I don’t feel like a client—I’m part of their family of authors.
My experience with them has been very positive.

I am so happy to announce how awesome Reggie Kee is! He did a fantastic job on my book. He did my first book, as well. Both experiences were wonderful. He is very respectful, very kind, and also allows the Lord to led him in the editing process. If you ever need someone to help you with your book process. He would be perfect for it.
